Homework – Monday 10th September & Wednesday 12th September 2018

Prepare a talk that is between 2 ½ and 3 minutes long (do not include questions and answers in that time). Choose from one of these topics

  • Plastic – do we need it?
  • Is it beneficial for a family to have a pet?
  • What impact will robots have in our lives

You are encouraged to use visual aids to support your talk, but you may not use a power point. Prepare notes that you can refer to (not a script to read from). Practise your talk using expression and eye contact. You have two weeks to prepare. Have your talk ready to present to the class from Tuesday 26th September.

There is a chance that you may be selected to represent Cults Primary in the Rotary Club Public Speaking Competition in October

This week is Maths Week Scotland and you will have been emailed a task from Mrs Johnstone to carry out this week and hand in on Monday 17/9/18.  A copy of the message is below.

Homework Challenge P1-7             w/c 10/9/18

How Did My Family Use Numeracy and Maths Today?

·     The purpose of this task is to develop awareness of the many ways in which we all use numeracy and mathematics in our everyday lives

·     Please discuss with your child the ways in which each member of the family uses maths skills e.g. telling the time to keep appointments, calculating the cost of purchases or measuring ingredients for a meal, and encourage your child to think of as many different ways as possible

·     Pupils are asked to record some (at least 3) of the ways they and their family use maths this week.  This can be by writing, drawing, taking photographs, making a poster or booklet, writing a story for classmates or younger pupils to read, writing a playscript to act out in school, by using digital technology to record their findings or any other way

·     Please feel free to be as creative as possible, the key message to remember is Maths is Fun!!

The websites below have a wealth of maths related games activities to explore at home during Maths Week, or any other week!
