Outdoor Gym

As the children worked so hard on Sports Day, we decided to have a fun gym sessions.  The children had free choice of equipment.  Some made up their own games, others played rounder’s or with the parachute.

Olympic Topic/ Outdoor Learning

Olympic Values

The children have been learning all about the Olympic and Paralympic Values.  We worked in our teams to think what the values mean and then we thought about times where we have demonstrated these in sporting activities.

We then went on to create our own team values and displayed these on a poster.

As well as thinking about the importance of the values, we had to try hard to work as a team.

Outdoor Learning- Data Handling

In class we have been learning about different ways of sharing data including: bar graphs, pictographs and tally charts.

We created a tally chart outdoors, selecting items we found outside.  We worked in groups of four, helping one another to complete the table.

Rio Olympics 2016

Topic Table

The children are really enjoying their new topic , ‘The Rio Olympics 2016’.  If your child has any books or items relating to this topic, then they are welcome to bring them in and we will create a display within the classroom. Please ensure all items are clearly named so we can make sure they are returned to the correct home.

This week we are going to be learning all about the Olympic Values.  This is something you may wish to discuss with your child.

Class News

Forest Fun!

The boys and girls in P2 M have been having lots of fun learning in and out of class.  They took part in forest activities,  learning about the different types of trees within our local forest.   They also collected different natural resources for an art activity in class, where they had to design and make their own elves.  Thank you very much to all the parents who volunteered to come along and those who helped out on the day. We were very lucky and had too many volunteers!

Satrosphere

The children had a great time at Satrosphere, learning all about bugs and the night sky.  They also really enjoyed exploring the floor, taking part in lots of different science based activities.  This was followed by lots of fun at the Park.

Satrosphere Trip

We are still looking for one more parent volunteer for our class trip.  Please remember to check the forecast and put sun cream on if necessary (before you arrive at school).  Children should remember a packed lunch, with a snack and drink as well.

Satrosphere

As you will see in the letter sent out today, we are going on a trip to Satrosphere.   If there are lots of volunteers, then we will pick names out of a hat.

The children will take part in two workshops.  One relating to our last topic, ‘We Are Aliens Planetarium Show’  and the second is a ‘Bug Show and Tell’ .  The latter is linked to our current class topic, which has an outdoor theme.  The children were keen to learn more about minibeasts and this workshop will provide hands on experience and learning.

If the weather is fine, we will hopefully be able to have a play in the nearby park and have a picnic lunch.  If the forecast is sunny, please make sure your child is wearing sun cream.   If we are unlucky with the weather, we have a room booked at Satrosphere.

Thank you for your continued help and support.

Tissues

P2 M are beginning to run low on tissue supplies.  If you have any spare tissue boxes at home or are able to pick up an extra box at the shops this would be greatly appreciated.  If you name the box then we can make sure it is returned to you if unused.

Thank you,

Miss Moyes
