A quick update

Two more songs have been added to the NATIVITY tab at the top of our blog.

We need at least one more player to log on to Sumdog before 8pm Thursday for our class entry to be recorded.

New games are now on the PHONICS tab for revising your words and more will be added throughout December so you can keep practising during the weeks we are doing consolidation of this terms phonemes.

Sumdog

sumdog

Boys and girls,

I have entered our class into a local Aberdeen Sumdog contest which runs for a whole week from today.

All you need to do to help us boost our score is log on and play some maths games.

If you take part – have fun practising some mental maths questions.

The Wedding

Thank you for your help with dressing our class so wonderfully for the Wedding on Friday morning.

These are just some of the photos as we haven’t been able to upload the pictures taken by our 3 class “official photographers” but they will be on the blog this coming week.

Our beautiful bride and groom at the church before the ceremony. The groom not looking too nervous along with the minister and groomsmen.

The bride with her family and a very proud “mum and dad” and some family members.

The ushers did a fantastic job of welcoming and seating all the guests. Everyone sang “One More Step along the World I Go” and “Whenever we Stick Together” beautifully before leaving for the “reception”.

This was our lovely party venue set out before the guests arrived.

We had cake – a beautiful  model one we decorated in class and a very tasty real cake.

Our Bride and Groom danced and ate cake with their guests.

More Katie Morag fun

We came to school dressed as our favourite book characters and read some stories – including Katie Morag and the Baking Day Secret.

We really liked the story. There was a recipe for Nurse’s Porridgies in the book so we tried making some ourselves in class.

The next day in our writing we learned about writing instructions and wrote about how to make them.

We shared our baking with our visitors at Open Night…they were delicious.

Thank you!

A very big thank you to all those who have donated to our recent Harvest appeal.

The children in both P2 classes have been busy decorating “hampers” to present our gift to the minister of Cults Parish Church

for donating to the Instant Neighbour charity.

Maths investigations

This week we had fun with numbers. We played a quick game of number bingo and some of us played some games adding with dice. Others were challenged to carefully walk round the Green Unit hunting out numbers – they could be numerals or words. The children recorded their finds on paper and also photographed them to share back in class.

I am sure you will agree they were marvellous maths detectives.

During the first week we discussed and agreed on our “class rules” and got to know our way round.

We were very energetic during PE with Miss Mair and loved visiting the library.

In week 2 we visited Mrs Brew in her new art studio. We have been working on our initials as decorated capital letters.

This is great fun and we are looking at capital letters in class too.

We have already had two people sharing a favourite book from home.

Each week a different person will take home our story sack and bring

it back to school the following Tuesday with their book to show us.

During the first two weeks we have been revising some digraphs from the end of P1.

(The children know these as sounds or phonemes.)

We have worked on lots of activities to practise words with  sh, ch, th and ng sounds in them.
