Week beginning 8th October 2018

We will be going to church on Friday, the last day of term.

School finishes for the October break on Friday at 3pm. We return on Monday 29th October. Hope you all enjoy the holidays.

Letter Sounds

Common Words

The children now have the first word wall stuck in the white common word homework book. This has our first 12 common words and can be used at home for revision of these words. We will use it in school to check which words the children recognise. Please complete the common word homework for Thursday. Words for this week are did and him. You may need to help your child to write the number after counting the words together.

Reading

The children will get one more reading book this week with pictures only. Books with words will be started after the holidays.

Word Pots

The children still have the main character names in their word pot. Kipper, Biff, Chip, Mum, Dad and Floppy. Keep revising any words your child does not remember. New words will be introduced after the holidays along with the reading books with words.

Reading

Reading books will continue to be changed daily for the books with no words, except on a Friday. The children will hear the extended story in school and can retell the story to an adult at home. Remember to refer to the reading letter, and ideas for questions are inside the front and back cover of the books.

We have also been looking at the shapes of the numbers and what they look like so we can recognise a number symbol out of sequence.
