Revision week

This week (wb 21.9.15)  is revision week.  Please try revisiting all sounds and words that have been taught up to this point.  You could try using the  websites we have been using in class to help with the revision.  I have put links to our two favourite websites in the navigation panel on the left hand side.  Look for ‘pirate reading game’ or ‘Phoneme Pop.’  Unfortunately, these links do not appear on an iPad or smart phone.  If you can not get it to work please write a note in the reading records and I can give you the website address.  Your child may need adult help with the pirate game.

Or you could try using some of the websites or resources that have been sent home previously.  As always, please write a note in the reading record informing me how your child has got on.  Many thanks.

We will all be getting reading books this week (wb 21.9.15). 🙂

Library visit

We visited the library today.  We were really excited to see the changes or to visit it for the first time.  We had some quiet time looking at books and then read a story.  We chose some books and toys to take back to the classroom to make our story corner even better.

Our class

Please ensure your child has a filled water bottle in school every day – it’s thirsty work being a BIG Primary 1.

We will have gym on a  Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with Mrs Duncan.

We will have art on a Friday with Mrs Brew. All children should have an art apron for taking part in art/messy activities.

We will be singing with Mrs Hamilton on a Monday.  Our favourite song is ‘The Penguin.’   Ask your child to perform it to you!

We have all been working hard to stay green all week.  We have also been learning to work as a team to earn table cubes.  Last week the top table got 86 points! We have also been moving up the golden time ladder for following the school rules.

I feel happy when…..

We have been learning about different feelings.  We have spoken about feeling proud, feeling sad and today we spoke about whaimaget makes us happy.

We drew pictures to share our happy thoughts.  We were learning to add lots of detail into our pictures – this is a key skill we are learning to develop which will help us with story writing in the future.  We all managed to achieve our target!

More maths fun

Some of the boys and girls have been learning to recognise numbers to 10.

They made a hand print number line to help them remember the numbers to 10. They also have been learning to follow the rules of maths games more independently. Well done!

Maths through play

We have been working in teams to use our adding grab mats.  We are learning to use the words add , and to find out what happens to a number when we add.   We will be taking our grab mats home for homework next week so that we can share our learning with our families.

Some of us have also been playing ‘Number Police’ and learning how to correctly write our numbers.
