Wearing school colours helps everyone feel a sense of belonging and pride, while keeping things simple and fair for families.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"522\" data-end=\"555\">Our school uniform colours are:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"556\" data-end=\"885\">\n<li data-start=\"556\" data-end=\"595\">\n<p data-start=\"558\" data-end=\"595\"><strong data-start=\"558\" data-end=\"579\">Trousers \/ Skirt:<\/strong> Grey or black<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"628\">\n<p data-start=\"598\" data-end=\"628\"><strong data-start=\"598\" data-end=\"621\">Sweater \/ Cardigan:<\/strong> Grey<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"629\" data-end=\"658\">\n<p data-start=\"631\" data-end=\"658\"><strong data-start=\"631\" data-end=\"650\">Shirt \/ Blouse:<\/strong> White<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"659\" data-end=\"796\">\n<p data-start=\"661\" data-end=\"796\"><strong data-start=\"661\" data-end=\"676\">School Tie:<\/strong> Maroon and silver (available from the school office \u2013 Velcro tie \u00a39, traditional tie \u00a36, prices as of September 2024)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"797\" data-end=\"885\">\n<p data-start=\"799\" data-end=\"885\"><strong data-start=\"799\" data-end=\"812\">Footwear:<\/strong> Black shoes or other sensible footwear suitable for school activities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"887\" data-end=\"976\">Black jogging bottoms or leggings may be worn as a comfortable alternative to trousers.\u00a0 In the interests of safety, we ask that children wear practical shoes (no high heels or backless shoes, please).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"887\" data-end=\"976\">For PE children should keep in school\u00a0 joggers, leggings or shorts, a T-shirt, and gym shoes in a bag with pupil\u2019s name on it.\u00a0 The school provides waterproof jackets and trousers for outdoor learning, please can you provide your child with a pair of wellies as well.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"887\" data-end=\"976\">It\u2019s also a big help if every item of clothing, including footwear, is clearly <strong data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1389\">labelled with your child\u2019s name<\/strong> \u2014 this makes it much easier to return lost items!<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"978\" data-end=\"1157\">We understand that circumstances differ for every family \u2014 if you need any support with school uniform or have questions about what\u2019s suitable, please speak to us in confidence.\u00a0 You may be entitled to Free School Meals and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.argyll-bute.gov.uk\/council-tax-and-benefits\/benefits-and-grants\/free-school-meals-and-clothing-grant\">Clothing Grant<\/a> of \u00a3120 per child when attending Primary School.\u00a0 <strong>Applications for the Clothing Grants for Academic Year 2026\/27 must be submitted by 31st March 2027.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"219\" data-end=\"252\"><strong data-start=\"226\" data-end=\"252\">Attendance and Absence<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"254\" data-end=\"435\">At Port Ellen Primary, we use an <strong data-start=\"287\" data-end=\"321\">electronic registration system<\/strong> to record attendance. Registration takes place twice each day \u2014 once in the morning and again just after lunch.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"437\" data-end=\"634\">If your child is going to be absent, please let us know <strong data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"534\">by 9:30am on the first day of absence<\/strong>. You can contact the school by <strong data-start=\"566\" data-end=\"584\">phone or email<\/strong> to explain the reason for your child\u2019s absence.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"636\" data-end=\"769\">When your child returns to school, please also provide a short <strong data-start=\"699\" data-end=\"737\">written note or email confirmation<\/strong> so we can update our records.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"922\">If we haven\u2019t heard from you by 9:30am, we will contact you to check on your child\u2019s wellbeing, as part of our commitment to keeping all pupils safe.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"880\" data-end=\"1141\">Regular attendance is vital for children\u2019s progress, confidence, and sense of belonging. The menu runs on a three week cycle.\u00a0 You can see an example menu <a href=\"https:\/\/www.argyll-bute.gov.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/2025-08\/Primary%20Menu%203%20choice%202025_26%20Accessible.pdf\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 If the school is making any menu substitutions, they will let you know in advance wherever possible.\u00a0 Water and milk are available as part of the 2 course meal for primary pupils.\u00a0 If your child has an allergy, please contact their school office. For allergen information on any of the meals, please contact\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:catering@argyll-bute.gov.uk\">catering@argyll-bute.gov.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The current cost for a Primary school meal is \u00a32.30.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3261\" data-end=\"3546\">All P1\u2013P5 pupils are entitled to free school meals, and payment information for P6\u2013P7 pupils can be found through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.argyll-bute.gov.uk\/my-council\/pay-it\/pay-school-meals-using-ipay\"><strong data-start=\"3465\" data-end=\"3478\">IPay<\/strong><\/a>.
