At our school, pupil voice is central to how we learn, plan and improve together<\/strong>. We believe children have the right to be heard and to play an active role in decisions that affect them.<\/p>\n

We gather pupil views regularly through surveys<\/strong>, class discussions and feedback activities, helping us understand what is working well and what could be improved. Our House and School Captains meetings<\/strong> provide a forum where pupils raise ideas, share concerns and help shape school life.<\/p>\n

Children also take part in citizenship and rights groups<\/strong>, where they explore fairness, wellbeing and how to make positive change. Pupils are involved in planning class topics and learning<\/strong>, often using floorbooks<\/strong> to capture ideas, questions and next steps, ensuring learning reflects their interests and curiosity.<\/p>\n

Pupil voice extends beyond discussion. Children are encouraged to campaign for causes they care about<\/strong>, take action within the school and wider community, and develop confidence in expressing their views respectfully and responsibly.<\/p>\n

Our approach is rooted in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)<\/strong>, particularly Article 12 \u2013 the right to have a say and be listened to<\/strong>. We support pupils to understand their rights and responsibilities and to use their voice to contribute positively to our school community.<\/p>\n

We draw on national guidance to strengthen our practice, including the Education Scotland Pupil Voice Toolkit<\/strong>, which supports meaningful, inclusive and effective participation:<\/p>\n
