Loose Parts Play
All of our classes love playing with the loose parts. We get to be creative and use our imagination while we develop problem solving skills. Talking and working together is great for improving our communication skills too.
Learning About Trees
Where better to learn about trees and plants than our very own Forget Me Not Woods?
Climbing and Hugging Trees
Climbing trees helps us to develop our balance and co-ordination. It helps us to learn about risk management too and we have a simple rule to keep us safe when climbing – don’t climb on a branch unless it is thicker than your forearm.
Our trees do so much for us, they deserve a hug every now and then!
Interviews
We interviewed children from different classes to find out what they thought about the woods and ONE TIME. We think that the woods and ONE TIME make our school a really special place!

Big Buzzard Nest
We’ve been learning about Scottish birds and wildlife. We made a big buzzard nest out of twigs and sticks that we found in our woods. It was the perfect place to sit, stand and play in. The children from our local nursery loved playing in the nest too!
Cardross Primary Drama Group – Tour of the Woods

Our group filmed and edited a tour of the woods. We imagined that there were new children coming to our school and we wanted to show them the best parts of Forget Me Not Woods.

Photography
I love photography and last year I won a photography competition about Outdoor Learning. I was delighted when Mrs Simpson asked me to take some photos of our woods. Even though it was winter, I tried to take photos of the scenery and spring flowers to show what a lovely place it is.

Worker Ants
Primary 3 became worker ants at ONE Time, working as one to transport natural materials in Forget Me Not Wood.
Different Seasons in Forget Me Not Wood
We’re really lucky to have the woods in our playground. We use them for climbing trees, den building, feeding the birds and for playing in. There are beautiful flowers growing there and if you’re very quiet you might see some local wildlife.
