All pupils have an entitlement to be supported in their learning about the world of work and relevant career pathways. Further information on the Career Education Standard is available via the following link<\/p>\n

Pupils are encouraged to see the connection between what is learned in their school subjects and the skills required within the wider employment marketplace. Pupils will enhance their knowledge of Kintyre\u2019s employment opportunities and build their confidence in delivering oral and written presentations to prospective employers and decision makers.<\/p>\n

All CGS pupils have the opportunity to access the support available from Skills Development Scotland and be able to proactively utilise \u2018My World of Work\u2019 as an information and support resource.<\/p>\n

Careers and Work Experience are delivered via the school\u2019s Guidance team \u2013 Mrs Fletcher, Mrs Miller, Mr Farren \u2013 and Mr Wilson (PT Enterprise & Vocation) and Mrs Kay Johnstone of SDS.<\/p>\n

Mr Cosgrove\u2019s class recently welcomed Kathryn MacDonald, from Stewart Bowman Architects in Lochgilphead, who spoke to S3 about how different school subjects contribute towards the skills required for the occupation of Architect.<\/p>\n

Mrs MacDonald gave an interesting and interactive lesson focusing on the communication of ideas to clients \u2013 verbally, graphically and their uses in animation and models \u2013 and how skills learned in\u00a0 Maths, English, Music, Social Subjects and Technical\/Graphic Communication are used in her everyday work.<\/p>\n
