Bowmore Primary School Parent Council\u00a0Meeting Minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n

12th November 2019<\/p>\n

Present: Maureen Macdonald , Arlene Mckerrell, Lynn Campbell, Jane Deakin, Gemma
\nDonachie, Neill, Marcin, Susan Main, Marcin Paradowski, Neil Woodrow<\/p>\n

Apologies: Jane Hanlon, Claire MacGregor, Leanne McTaggart<\/p>\n

a) Seesaw App: Maureen reporting a majority of positive feedback from
\nparents following the roll out of the new system. Parents will be receiving
\nan email and text about GDPR.
\nc) Children in Need fundraiser on Friday 15th November with a Bake Off and
\nCoffee Morning
\nd) November: Early Years Inspection followed by Learning and Development
\nvisit
\ne) 25th November In Service day for School NOT Nursery
\nf) Christmas Events:<\/p>\n

b) Gaelic Medium Education celebrates 30 years in Bowmore this year. In
\nrecognition hosting 4 days of Gaelic Celebration:<\/p>\n

2nd December Coffee Morning<\/p>\n

3rd December Bilingual Bingo<\/p>\n

4th December Gaelic Learning Day<\/p>\n

5th December Celebration Ceilidh<\/p>\n

Christmas Dates<\/strong><\/p>\n

13th December Nativity<\/p>\n

16th December Carols by Candlelight at the Round Church 6-7pm<\/p>\n

18th December Christmas Lunch \u2013 Invitations to Parent Council and Comann nam P\u00e0rant<\/p>\n

18th December Bowmore Christmas Disco 7-8.30pm<\/p>\n

19th December Christmas Party<\/p>\n

g) Agreed by all for Parent Council to fund gifts for younger pupils and
\nselection boxes for P4+ children, the school will source the gifts. CNP will
\nbe contributing for Gaelic Medium pupils.
\nh) New Pitch \u2013 Confusion over access and cost of using the new resource.
\nDiscussed the possibility of equipment for the children to use in this space.
\nSchool has recently purchased a Tag Rugby set.
\ni) FANTASTIC NEWS that the Parent Council has been awarded \u00a310221.75
\nfrom the Co-op Local Community Fund. Discussions on what these funds
\ncan be used towards. As in the application money is to be spent on what the
\nmajority would like, which falls to outdoor play equipment and technology.
\n5 x iPads @ 300 makes \u00a31,500 2 x Kapla boxes @ \u00a3200 makes \u00a3400
\nNursery outdoor area: we saw the multi-level water table was just under
\n\u00a33000. Then leaves \u00a35321.75 to purchase for the outdoor school
\nplayground, which can be discussed.
\nj) Arlene Mckerrell \u00a31000 Sensory Equipment agreed \u2013 funding from existing
\nfunds in account. Jane Deakin to review \u2018Wish Lists\u2019 on file from other
\nstaff.
\nk) Future Fundraising: Feis Fun Run Wednesday 27th May. Auction Mart
\ncatering \u2013 bacon butties etc
\nl) POTENTIAL A&BC BUDGET CUTS TO SCHOOLS SWIMMING 2020-
\n21.<\/p>\n

Potential cuts to funding which provide swimming to the schools of Islay.
\nBeing surrounded by water and having a vast fishing community, I\u2019m sure
\nyou would agree it is highly beneficial for our children to have the chance
\nto learn to swim.<\/p>\n

There is a questionnaire and a petition we would like to get you all to sign.
\nThis will be at the Gaelic College along with copies of the questionnaire
\nfrom Wednesday, or both are available at the swimming pool.<\/p>\n
