At Bowmore Primary School<\/strong>, we recognise that digital technology plays an increasingly important role in children\u2019s learning and in the wider world. Digital tools are used to support creativity, communication, research and problem solving across the curriculum. When used effectively, technology can enrich learning experiences, support independence and give pupils access to a wide range of ideas and opportunities.<\/p>\n Our aim is to develop confident and responsible digital learners who are able to use technology safely, creatively and effectively. Digital learning is integrated across many areas of the curriculum and supports children in developing the knowledge and skills needed for learning, life and work.<\/p>\n Pupils have access to a range of digital devices to support their learning.<\/p>\n Primary 1\u20134:<\/strong> pupils use iPads<\/strong> to support early digital skills, creativity and communication. These devices allow younger learners to explore photography, video, simple coding, research and digital storytelling.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Primary 5\u20137:<\/strong> pupils have access to individual laptops<\/strong>, enabling them to develop more advanced digital skills such as research, presentation, digital organisation and collaborative work.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n This access to devices allows pupils to develop independence and confidence when using digital tools to support their learning.<\/p>\n Our technologies programme provides opportunities for pupils to develop a wide range of digital skills, including:<\/p>\n Curiosity and problem solving<\/strong> through exploration and investigation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Creativity and innovation<\/strong> through digital storytelling, film making, coding and design<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Planning and organisational skills<\/strong> when managing digital projects<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Collaboration and communication<\/strong> through working with others online and sharing ideas<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Computational thinking<\/strong> through coding and logical problem solving<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Research skills<\/strong> including searching for and selecting reliable information<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Presentation skills<\/strong> using a range of digital media<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Evaluating digital products and information<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Using digital tools, software and equipment effectively<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Manipulating text, images, audio and video to communicate ideas<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n These experiences help children develop confidence in using technology to support learning across the curriculum.<\/p>\n As digital technology continues to evolve, pupils are also introduced to discussions around artificial intelligence (AI)<\/strong> and how it is beginning to shape the world around us. At an age-appropriate level, pupils explore how AI tools work, how they can be used responsibly, and why it is important to think critically about digital information.<\/p>\n Developing an understanding of emerging technologies helps prepare learners for a future where digital literacy and ethical technology use are increasingly important.<\/p>\n Helping children stay safe online is a key part of digital learning.
