Bowmore Primary School is a non-denominational, co-educational primary school at the heart of our island community. We are proud to offer both English Medium Education (EME)<\/strong> and Gaelic Medium Education (GME)<\/strong>, supporting bilingualism, local culture and high-quality learning for all children.<\/p>\n

Our school has a strong family feel, close links with the local community, and a rich, engaging curriculum that makes the most of our unique island setting.<\/p>\n

English Medium Classes (EME)<\/h3>\n

We currently have three English Medium classes<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

    Gaelic Medium Classes (GME)<\/h3>\n

    We have two full-time Gaelic Medium teachers<\/strong>, allowing us to provide two Gaelic Medium classes:<\/p>\n

      P1\u20133 \u2013 Total Immersion Phase<\/strong>
      Children learn entirely through Gaelic (no English), building strong foundations in the language.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      P4\u20137 \u2013 Immersion Phase<\/strong>
      Children continue to learn primarily through Gaelic, with up to 25% English learning<\/strong> introduced to support bilingual development.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      We also have a welcoming Early Learning and Childcare (ELC)<\/strong> provision:<\/p>\n

        Sgoil-\u00e0raich (Gaelic ELC) Roll<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Our ELC setting offers a nurturing start to school life, supporting children\u2019s wellbeing, play-based learning and early language development in both English and Gaelic.<\/p>\n

          One Shared Principal Teacher<\/strong>, working across Bowmore and Port Ellen Primary Schools<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          This shared leadership model reflects our roll across both English Medium and Gaelic Medium classes and supports strong collaboration between our two island schools.<\/p>\n
