\"\"<\/a>Staff and pupils of St. Joseph’s Primary school in Helensburgh were delighted to welcome John Evitt of Missio to school this week, not least because he brought with him a wonderful surprise for P6 pupil Charlotte O’Hara. Way back in November of last year, John visited the school to announce the lunch of an International Competition ‘Missionary Children World Competition’ to mark 170 years of Missio in this, the Year of Faith. Missio launched this drawing competition which was open to all primary school pupils in Scotland.
The drawing was to be on the theme of ‘Children Helping Children’ and only two entries from each country in the world would be chosen to be the winners and enter into a special book which would be presented to Pope Francis.
\nWe are delighted to announce that one of the only two Scottish winners in the competition was Charlotte! The winning prize of \u00a350 was presented to her at a whole school assembly this week. Head Teacher, Ms Collins, had previously informed Charlotte’s mum of the wonderful news but everyone agreed to keep it a secret from Charlotte until the big day. Gladly Mrs O’Hara was at assembly that day but as parents regularly attend assemblies at St Joseph’s, Charlotte suspected nothing until the big moment. It was a glorious sight to see Charlotte’s face light up with sheer delight and pride at winning this prestigious prize and her mum was, rightfully, very proud to witness it.
