\"\"<\/a>The Flat Stanley story has been read and used as a stimulus for Big Writing activities for the Infant pupils at Ashfield Primary School this term.\u00a0 There was great excitement as the P2,3,4 pupils took their Flat Stanleys to the Lochgilphead Sorting Office on Tuesday 23rd<\/sup> October.\u00a0 The pupils were keen to find out how their Flat Stanley letters had travelled from the post-box in Achnamara village to their homes.\u00a0 Each Flat Stanley had many adventures at the homes of the children and they kept a diary of the various activities.
\nAt the Sorting Office,\u00a0\u00a0 Mr. MacLean was waiting ready to show the children the different areas in the Sorting Office and what happened to letters at each stage of sorting.\u00a0 Pupils made notes about all the information they heard and asked many questions.\u00a0 They found out: the strangest parcels dealt with have been unusually shaped pieces of large driftwood;\u00a0 the Sorting Office uses a LOT of elastic bands each year- 500,000; most Postmen have a supply of dog biscuits in their vans in case of unfriendly dogs!\u00a0 The Posties\u2019 bicycles are being decommissioned and are to be sent to Africa because bikes are no longer to be used in Lochgilphead.
\nThe children listened carefully and with great interest to Mr. Maclean.\u00a0 They all enjoyed the outing to the Sorting Office and returned to school keen to share their experience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
