We came joint first in the UK in the Small Primary Classes  5-day Challenge category, for the third consecutive year. We have taken part in the Big Pedal&#8217;s virtual cycle around Britain for several years now and the children are always very enthusiastic about using the Sustran&#8217;s cycle path to cycle to school.<BR><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This year has been no exception and the children (plus staff and parents too!) have cycled in all weathers to participate. The grand finale was a Big Pedal Easter Picnic when parents, staff and pupils did a round trip of 7 miles, rolled our Easter eggs and didn&#8217;t even notice it was raining.<BR><BR><\/p>\n<p><BR><br \/>\nThe Barcaldine children went along to the Corran Halls on Friday 28th April to participate in the non-competitive Action Song, Ensemble and the competitive Recorder Group categories. All 9 pupils entertained the audience with a fantastic ensemble performance of My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean, the P1-3 pupils received plenty of laughter with their rendition of the &#8216;World coming to an End&#8217; and then the P6\/7 pupils played Skye Boat Song on their recorders.<BR><BR>The P6\/7s were over the moon to have received first place in their category.<BR><BR><\/p>\n<p>Oban, Lorn and the Isles Schools Orienteering Competition<\/p>\n<p>On a glorious day at Dunstaffnage Castle, Stramash organised a great orienteering event for local schools. Barcaldine Primary School were proud to receive 1 gold and 2 silver medals and ultimately winning the Small Schools Cup for the first time.<BR><BR>A fantastic day was had by all as even our P1-3s had a chance to go around a course with some older pupils.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three accomplishments over the last few weeks for Barcaldine Primary School Big Pedal It has been a hat-trick for Barcaldine Primary School children in the Big Pedal race.
