\"\"<\/a>It was an early start for pupils, parents and staff of Kilmodan Primary as they made their way to Edinburgh on Tuesday 19th June.\u00a0 Mrs Hawkins and the P6 children were heading to The Hub to meet Mr John Swinney MSP who awarded them with the Social Enterprise in Schools Award.\u00a0 The award is in recognition of our very successful tearoom venture which we have been running monthly in the school.\u00a0 Only last week we attended The Scottish Education Awards at the Glasgow Hilton as finalists in the ‘Enterprise and Employability across Learning’ category, also for our successful tearoom.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The tearoom began as a one off fundraiser for victims of the Pakistan floods and has since grown into a regular event in the social calendar of Glendaruel and Colintraive – not forgetting our very loyal Befrienders group who travel each month from Dunoon!\u00a0 The tearoom enables pupils to learn and develop valuable skills by undertaking\u00a0tasks such as marketing, staff management and rotas, handling money and setting prices, all in line with their ages and individual abilities.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, P2-5 were enjoying a tour of Dynamic Eath.\u00a0 Next stop was a visit to The National Museum of Scotland, where we had arranged to meet with Mrs Hawkins and the P6 children.\u00a0 However, we were side-tracked by The Fudge Shop, where we were treated to a spectacular demonstration of fudge making and also a wee taster of the delicious fudge!\u00a0 We finally arrived at the museum where we heard all about the award ceremony and marvelled at the wonderful certificate which the P6 children carried with pride.<\/p>\n
