John Logie Baird P7 visit to The Scottish Parliament

Primary 7 at John Logie Baird Primary School made the long trip through to Edinburgh recently to visit the Scottish Parliament. After a visit to the Education Centre where we learned about the history of the parliament in Scotland and where asked to use our brains, we went on a tour of the building. We were lucky enough to be allowed into the Debating Chamber and learned many interesting facts about that room such as where the Presiding Officer sits and just how busy the reporters for the parliament are! Did you know they have to write down every word that is spoken inside the Debating Chamber? Continue reading John Logie Baird P7 visit to The Scottish Parliament

This enterprise involved the children writing a list of everything they would need to run a tearoom in their classes, making posters to advertise the event and making tickets to sell to everyone in the school. The uptake of tickets was very positive and almost every child and many adults in our school visited the Tartan Tearooms. Continue reading Tartan Tearooms at John Logie Baird Primary

JLB’s Musical Medley

Parents and friends of John Logie Baird Primary were wonderfully entertained by the children of the school during their Christmas performance of ‘JLB’s Musical Medley’.
They were taken to different locations through songs such as ‘How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria’, ‘ Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’, ‘Under The Sea’ & ‘I’m The King of The Swingers’.
The children learned a lot during the creation of the concert about performing to an audience, prop making, costume design and creative dance.

John Logie Baird Primary 50’s and 60’s assembly

Primary Four pupils at John Logie Baird Primary School recently enjoyed learning about many aspects of the “50’s and 60’s”. They were very keen to share their learning with the rest of the school and their parents so they decided to hold an assembly which would take their audience on an alphabetical journey through the 50’s and 60’s.  The children worked very hard to create a script and many exciting props for their assembly which featured many special “guests” such as Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Neil Armstrong, President JFK and Mary Quant to name a few. John Logie Baird Pre-5 Responsible Citizens.

Recently the children at JLB Pre-5 Nursery have been learning about caring for others. They are becoming Responsible Citizens by planting Daffodil bulbs to sell and raise money for Marie Curie.
Marie Curie is a charity dedicated to the care of people with terminal illnesses.
This is also being reinforced through the PATHS Initiative where the children are encouraged to be thoughtful and kind. We have a beautiful tree in our foyer full of compliments shared in the nursery. Continue reading John Logie Baird Pre-5 Responsible Citizens.

John Logie Baird Primary visit to Ardardan

Primary 1 and Primary 2/1 at John Logie Baird enjoyed a visit to Ardardan Garden Centre where they enthusiastically applied their mathematical and literacy skills in a real situation.  They enjoyed exploring the plants and bulbs and learning about the range of farm produce. The Garden Centre staff were kept on their toes answering questions the children had prepared for them.  The visit ended with an opportunity for each child to buy a suitable item in the farm shop.  A big thank you is extended to all those at Ardardan who helped to make the visit so worthwhile.
