Marion Fisher, former pupil and Clerical Assistant at the school, along with her committee of Dawn McBay, Isla Munro and Ellie Cooper organised the reunion for past pupils.
There were lunches, logbook and photo displays available at the Village Hall and the school was open for tours and teas organised by the Parent Council. The ultimate event was a dance on the Saturday night with music from Ross MacPherson and friends.
None of this would have been possible without the support of local businesses and the organising committee would like to thank Connel Village Store, Connel Surgery, Kenneth Ferguson Electrical, Bossards, Sinclair Plant and MacDougalls. There was also many lovely prizes donated for the raffle and thanks go to Saint Saviour, The Oyster Inn, Oban Sightseeing Flights, Scottish Sea Farms, Oban Fine Wine, Hair by Rutherfords and The Oban Phoenix Cinema for their generosity.
An amazing £550 has been donated to the school from the committee.
The weekend was filled with happy memories of past times of standing around the fire to keep warm and reminiscing about former classmates and teachers. There was also many a former pupil who decided to see if they could still swing from the playground rafters as they did as a child. The answer was a resounding “yes”!
It has been wonderful for the current students to learn about the history of the school and they are very thankful to everyone for sharing their stories, photos and time with them.
A keepsake mug is available to buy from the school, priced £4 – if you wish to purchase one contact the school office on 01631 710529.
