Shinty

imageOn Thursday 17th of November P5\6\7 was doing Shinty with Euan McMurdo the shinty development officer. He taught us different skills you need when playing shinty, like stopping the ball with your feet. We also got to play shinty which was very fun and everyone enjoyed playing shinty and look forward to playing it again soon.

Children In Need

imageEvery year Port Ellen Primary School does a fundraiser for children in need. They raise the money to give to children who are less fortunate than us and who are very ill , that’s why this year all the children came into school waring a onesie and brought in their teddies. They also had the Mindfullness Minions (one of the citizen ship groups) do a bake sale in the school, we also got some other cake donations from parents. They raised £200.36 for Children in Need!

Blair Drummond Safari Park

Most of P6/7 from Islay and Jura went on the Stirling trip on the 13th till the 16th of September.

img_1183One of my favourite parts was going to Blair Drummond Safari Park so that’s what I’m writing about today.

Me and my group  (Mrs Mactaggert, Anna, Lorne, Ewan, Toby, Daisy, Ryan and Sam) started of at at the Elephant (Mandy) and it was very interesting then we went into the Rhino section. Bruce the Rhino’s Mum Dot was pregnant with her fourth calf. We also looked at giraffes  but they were quite boring because they were just standing there.  After that we went to look at the lions and we saw a male lion eating a calf. We then headed to the horses and the two tigers after we got to go see penguins, meerkats and sea lions. Next we went to the park and played with the amazing, gigantic wooden castle. Soon after we drove through the open space where all of the animals were in the bus. My favourite animal I saw in the bus was the zebra then sadly after we had to leave to get to the ferry.

Media Group Is Back With A Bang !!!!!!

The new and improved media group has new and improved ideas about how to improve our community and school. We have some great new ideas – News letters for parent, different sorts of blogs like internet safety and Port Ellen school movie.

The new media group will continue until the end of term and by the end of term we want t be successful by showing what we have achieved. We do this every Friday afternoon.

This media group is trying to get the community to know whats going in the school.                                               We hope you enjoy seeing what the media group have achieved.
