Port Ellen And Bowmore Beach Day

On Friday 23rd June Port Ellen and Bommore had a beach day down at the White Hart beach.  It was the whole school from each school.  When we got there we all mixed in with each other.

In the afternoon we went to get our lunch. Then we had to do a sand castle competition, but a castle didn’t win, the wining group made a boat.  There were two boats but the one that won had a dolphin in it.

We had a match of football and rounders. In the rounders we did mixed teams, but in the football we did Port Ellen VS Bommore and Port Ellen won by one goal.

It was a great and a very fun day.

On the 8th of September Struan and other people from Islay High School went on a swimming trip with the Dolphins to the Argyll and Clyde competition.  There were five swimming teams there including Dolphins.  Struan beat all his PB apart from his back stroke.  The highest place he got was in breaststroke which he got 5th, the person who 6th was about 7 seconds behind. It was his first time doing 200 meter IM which means you do all the stokes two times including butterfly.  He got 15th that.  It was fun.

At the end of the first day all Islay, Kintyre and Oban teamed together to make some relay squads to face Helensburgh relay teams. Then on the next day there was a 3 hour long training session with all people from Argyll and Clyde. It is called path finders or B squad. There is also a A squad for older and more experienced swimmers. Four people from Islay got picked and Ross was the only person from Port Ellen Primary School.
