World of Work – Lollipop Man

Another visitor to our class today was our very own lollipop man, who keeps us safe everyday, both on our way to school and back home again. He told us how long he had been doing the job and why he wears bright colours and carries a lollipop stick. An interesting piece of information that we found out was that the black line on the lollipop stick is for recording registration numbers of drivers that are behaving irresponsibly. Some of us got to try on the yellow jacket and hold the lollipop stick, which was a little heavy to hold in one hand.

World of Work – Visit from Dr Millan

Today has been a very interesting day for P3a.  We had three visitors in our class, one being Dr Millan.  He talked to us about his work and showed us some of the instruments that he uses in his surgery, we even got to try them out.  The Skeleton was awesome, but I don’t think he uses it in his surgery.  We asked lots of questions and found out that to be a doctor you have to study really hard in order to get good grades at school, then you go to university for 5 years!

Comic Strips

Roy came to visit our class today to tell us about comic strip writing. He told us about the history of comic strips and showed us examples of some of the first types of comics, on a PowerPoint. He also brought in some comic books for us to look at, as well as giving us our very own comic book that he made.

We loved having Roy in the class and couldn’t wait to try out our own comic strip writing. When we had finished it we got the opportunity to read it to the class.

Tennis Skills

Over the past few weeks the children in P3a have been developing the skills needed to play tennis.

To start with we are using a bean bag as it is easier to control. We have been serving our bean bag to our partner and catching it with our racket.

In our pictures you will see one of the boys in the class taking us through our warm up exercises.
