P5 created massage stories and came to 1D to try them out.

1D enjoyed having a massage. This is how they felt:

1D had fun taking part in Red Nose Day. ☺

This week the children were learning a new sound – “sh” and 3 new common words – “did”, “as” and “he”.

The children enjoyed working with a friend to say, make, blend, read and write “sh” words. They used magnetic letters and boards.

To help learn to read and spell common words the children worked with a partner. They had to find a word, tap the word with a hand wand and then write it on a whiteboard. The children had great fun asking their friends to find words and especially liked using the hand wands.

The children worked in groups and took part in Numeracy activities.

Group 1 used different coloured cubes to find different ways of making 4 and 5. They recorded their sums on whiteboards and shared their learning at the end.

Group 2 used butterfly cards and cubes to help them find out the different ways of making 4 and 5. They recorded their sums to see if they could notice a pattern.

Group 3 played addition to 10 Bingo and used number lines to help complete the sums if needed.

Group 4 picked a number card ranging from 1-20 and counted out the correct number of cubes to match the card and make towers. If the card was 11 and above the children had to make 1 tower of 10 and then another tower of 1. The children were then encouraged to say 10 and 1 more is 11 etc…

Primary 5J designed and made fantastic addition games to help 1D learn their number bonds and gain confidence with addition to 10. The games were lots of fun and 5J were super at explaining how to play the games and supporting their P1 buddies.
